Race Face Aeffect Cinch X-Type Crank Arms
The 2019 Aeffect crank, with an updated graphic, takes the same Cinch direct-mount chainring system we've come to love from Race Face's higher priced cranks, and brings it down to a lower budget crankset. Interchangeable spiders and a huge variety of chainring combinations are possible with the Cinch interface. The Aeffect uses a spiderless design, meaning the chainring is not attached via four chainring bolts - it is now secured directly to the spindle using a splined interface. Not only does this reduce weight by removing the spider, it also makes this crankset compatible with just about any charinring configuration on the planet. Given the slew of drivetrains available these days, this is a huge benefit.
One important difference between the Aeffect crank and the higher priced Turbine, Next SL, or SixC cranks is the spindle. The Aeffect crank uses an X-Type 24mm chromoly spindle, instead of the oversized 30mm alloy spindle used on the higher priced Cinch cranks from Race Face. That means you'll need to run this crank in conjunction with a Race Face X-Type bottom bracket. Chris King and Shimano also make bottom brackets that will accommodate the 24mm spindle.
